Moving Antiracism Training Ahead
- Jum Warritay’s original proposal is here:
- Jum’s revised proposal:
Essentially, I'm proposing four sessions:
Session 1: "What Does Antiracism Mean?” - for the Board
Session 1: “What Does Antiracism Mean?” - for staff/volunteers
Session 2: "Understanding Racism at Work" - for the Board
Session 2: "Understanding Racism at Work" - for staff/volunteers.
I would ask for $1500 for the four sessions.
Below are dates I'm available to schedule the first sessions:
January 11: 2pm - 7pm: (Felix would prefer NOT to schedule at this date)
January 14: 4:30 - 7pm: Preferred times for Felix
January 19: 2:30pm - 7pm
January 22: 9am - 11am
January 26: Any time
As we discussed, I would recommend a couple of weeks between Session 1 and 2. Here are dates I'm available to schedule Session 2:
January 22: 9am - 11am
January 26: 9am - 7:00pm
February 3: 9am - 7:00pm
February 9: 9am - 7:00pm
February 22: 9am - 7:00pm
- Pamela to send Doodle poll about available times.
- Discussion: Board
Check on timeline for Park interim report timing and delegation
- Received check on March 31, 2020.
- Interim report due Feb. 28, 2021.
- Felix seeking help from John (has a window during Winter Break starting 12/23) and Stephen
- John and Felix will set up a time to talk.
Felix updates:
- No non-news volunteers at the station until we see lower COVID numbers in the area
- Grant $2600 for the police reimagining series
- PPP Forgiveness app was filed.
- Underwriting
- Peter is actively contacting business sponsors
- Fred Balfour, a news team volunteer, reached out to Pamela about clarity regarding underwriting, since he knew of a few businesses who seemed keen to do this. Peter is now taking the lead.
Recommendation that we start working with a more closely managed budget
- Felix/John: Will work on budget breakdown
Fundraising
- $2-3K of checks, online pop-up on site to raise funds, so far about $5.5K out of $17K
- Peter and Felix: Sent targeted fundraising letters
- Distribution of contacts for phone calls/emails that Felix and Board will make to key donors.
- Board encouraged to send emails to those who might be able to donate.
