Coronavirus Update, May 18, 2021

New York State will lift face mask requirements in most public spaces, following the change in guidance from the CDC.

Governor Cuomo announced that the requirements will be lifted on Wednesday. Immunocompromised and unvaccinated people should continue to wear a mask and social distance as appropriate.

Masks are still required on public transportation, in nursing homes, homeless shelters, schools, and health care facilities in New York.

 

Tompkins county is reporting 2 new COVID cases with a total of 47 active cases.  This reflects a downward trend of a high of 16 new cases from last Friday.  Total cases are also down from 54 last Friday. 

In Schuyler county, there is one new case and a total of 8 active COVID cases.
