On Monday, the Finger Lakes Land Trust announced it is protecting 64 acres of land on the Southern Side of Hammond Hill State Forest from development. The land owned by Susan Compton and John Saylor, includes the headwaters of the west branch of Owego Creek. The two donated a conservation easement on the parcel which allows the land to remain privately owned, while limiting the land's use in the future.

New York state has awarded $900 million in stabilization grants to child care programs throughout the state. According to News10, New York is investing $2.3 billion into the state’s child care industry. The grants are funded through federal spending including the American Rescue Plan. So far the Office of Children and Family Services has offered funds to nearly 15,000 child care providers in New York state with over $37 million going to the Finger Lakes.

New York State Attorney General Letitia James, has subpoenaed Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump Jr. according to court documents revealed on Monday. James has been pursuing a civil investigation of Former President Donald Trump’s business practices for nearly three years. The Attorney General has also issued a subpoena to the Former President himself. According to the New York Times, James served the two subpoenas in early December. Trump’s other son, Eric Trump, was interviewed back in October of 2020. Trump’s three eldest children have been heavily involved in the Trump Organization for most of their adult lives.
