City of Ithaca and Tompkins County tax bills should be delivered this week more than two weeks later than usual. According to the City Chamberlain’s office, the department began mailing out physical tax bills on Friday. The city had seen a  delay in mailing due to a software issue. Tax bill and payment information is available online at Cityofithaca.org. Despite the delay, the city is NOT extending the January 31st payment deadline.

Ithaca Mayor Svante Myrick has appointed a 5 member redistricting working group. The group is tasked with redrawing the lines for the city's 5 wards. All 5 wards are represented in the group which is chaired by Henrik Dullea. Former Common Council Member from the 2nd Ward Seph Murtagh is also in the group. The group will work collaboratively with the Tompkins county redistricting commission. The two groups will meet later this month.

Schuyler County Public Health will host a COVID-19 vaccine clinic this Friday at the Watkins Glen Community Center. The clinic will be open from 9:00 A.M. to Noon and will offer vaccines to anyone 12 and older. Walk-ins are accepted, but residents can pre-register on the county’s website at Schuylercounty.us

New York State’s COVID-19 positivity rate has fallen to 16.3 percent, down from 23 percent at the beginning of the month. According to KTVZ the state reported just over 49,000 new cases of COVID on Friday down from 90,000 new cases a week ago. On Friday Governor Kathy Hochul said these numbers are a “positive trend.” Hochul went on to urge New Yorkers to remain vigilant saying “We’re not going to spike the football.”
