The Ithaca Youth Bureau Summer Camp is facing staffing shortages. According to Spectrum News, the camp is only accepting 50% of its usual capacity and slots for campers filled very quickly this spring. There is currently a waitlist for campers and the camp will add more slots if it can bring in more staff. The Youth Bureau is looking to hire for a number of positions including lifeguards, swim instructors, and counselors.

The City of Ithaca and the Village of Cayuga Heights are currently undergoing wastewater testing for COVID-19. The testing is part of a statewide survey being conducted by New York State. Wastewater testing has been a way to test the level of COVID-19 within a community. The Tompkins County Health Department is urging residents to continue using at-home COVID tests when necessary.

Williams Street between Eddy Street and Stewart Avenue in Ithaca, will be closed to thru traffic beginning on Monday for repaving. The road will be closed for a little over a month with work scheduled to be complete on May 27th. No detours will be in place, and flaggers will direct Highland Avenue traffic.

On Wednesday, a former New York state judge was sentenced to one year and three months in jail. According to the Associated Press, the Judge, Sylvia Ash, was sentenced for conspiracy, obstruction of justice, and making a false statement to a federal agent in an investigation. Ash previously served on the New York State supreme court from the second judicial district in Kings county.
