The City of Ithaca Engineering Division is planning to increase sidewalk assessment fees. The fee structure hasn’t changed since its inception in 2015. Total revenue to the program has increased by only 3% while the cost of replacing a square of sidewalk has increased 24%. The City is considering a plan that would increase the fee paid by most owners of one- or two-family dwellings from $70 to $80 per year and increase fees for other types of properties as well. The Engineering Division is hosting a public meeting to discuss the proposed changes and its 2023 work plan Tuesday, August 23 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at Tompkins County Public Library’s Borg Warner Room.
