– National milk carton shortage affects local schools – A nationwide milk carton shortage is changing the way area schools are giving milk to students. Milk is in ample supply but U.S. suppliers of half-pint milk cartons is having a supply chain problem. The reason for the shortage is unknown according to Fast Company and The New York Times. Upstate Farms is affected by this shortage. They supply milk to some school districts in the Finger Lakes region. Schools are responding to the shortage in various ways like pouring from larger containers and offering other alternatives like cheese.
