Schuyler County Administrator on Administrative Leave

The Schuyler County Administrator, Fonda Chronis, was placed on administrative leave Monday. The Odessa File reports that no public reason for the action has been given. Chronis was appointed by the legislature a year and a half ago.

Microelectronics Company To Build $50 Million in Tompkins County Fabrication Facility

A California-based microelectronics company is investing over $50 million dollars into retrofitting a Lansing facility. Senator Chuck Schumer announced that Menlo Microsystems will build its first domestic fabrication facility north of Ithaca. The deal is expected to create over 100 high-tech jobs in the area. The new plant will make switches used on microchips. Empire State Development committed to giving the company a $6.5 million tax credit package. To get the credits the company must create 122 new jobs. The announcement comes less than a month after Micron confirmed its construction of a $100 billion dollar chip manufacturing facility in Syracuse.
