The WRFI Youth Radio Project is a long running community radio program where local teenagers learn radio broadcasting in a hands on program. Kids are trained on radio technology as well as broadcasting policy and procedures. They host an hour long, live radio show once a week (under the supervision of a WRFI mentor and advisor) that generally leans into music and announcements, but sometimes they branch out into interviews or news and discussion. A rotating group of students present an eclectic mix of content.
If you are, or know an Ithaca (or surrounding areas) youth (ages 14-18) who is interested in learning radio skills and being involved, please visit our contact page at: https://www.wrfi.org/contact/and submit a contact form, making sure to indicate interest in the Youth Radio Project.
