The holiday of Kwanzaa began on Jan. 26 and ends Jan. 1. On the Dec. 30 edition of WRFI Community Radio News we shared excerpts from days 2 and 5 of the series, and the full videos for every day of the celebration can be found on the Community Unity Music Education Program (CUMEP) Youtube Channel. The daily videos aim to show how the Southside Community Center brings the Kwanzaa principles to life despite the pandemic.

Dr. Nia Nunn, Southside Community Center Board President, starts things off. You'll also hear members of the Black Girl Alchemists reading their work, as part of the Kwanzaa principle of Kujichagulia, or self-determination. The second segment showcases the work of CUMEP campers and shows how Southside Community Center practices the principle of “Nia” or purpose. Enjoy!

The daily videos are edited by Nia Nunn and CUMEP staff member Jonathan Keefner. The audio excerpts from the videos were edited for radio by WRFI News Director Michayla Savitt.
