The Home Dairy building on the Ithaca Commons will receive a historic designation after approval from the Common Council. According to the Ithaca Voice, the designation will make the building immune to certain changes that could come with the evolution of Ithaca’s downtown. The building hosted Firebrand Books, a lesbian and feminist publishing house founded in 1984. While the building’s storefront has been closed for several years, the controversial owners of the building, Twelve Tribes, plans to open their Yellow Deli in the space this fall.
