- Former IPD Acting Chief Sues City For Racial Discrimination -

Ithaca’s former acting police chief John Joly is suing the City for racial discrimination. The Ithaca Voice reports Joly says city officials didn’t appoint police chief because he’s white. The suit names Mayor Laura Lewis, five Common Council members and Human Resources Director Schelley Michell-Nunn. The suit also accuses several Common Council members of defamation. Joly’s been on personal leave since April. 

- State DEC Cautions Drivers About Turtles Crossing The Road -

The state DEC wants drivers to watch out for turtles. May and June are when turtles look for places to lay eggs. This puts them at a greater risk of being hit while crossing roads. Thousands of turtles are killed on New York State roads every year. The DEC says it’s OK for drivers to move turtles off the road if they can safely do so.
