- Term Limits On November’s Ballot In Chemung County -

Chemung County voters get to decide on term limits for lawmakers this November. WSKG Public Radio reports the limits would be for all 15 county legislators and the county executive. The law would limit a candidate to three consecutive, four-year terms. They would be eligible to run again after sitting out four years.

- Solar Battery Storage System Proposed for Cayuga Power Plant Site -

A Denver-based solar energy company wants to put a battery energy storage system on the site of the Cayuga Power Plant in Lansing. A representative for Bear Peak Power told the town board the system would put out 200 megawatts of power in four-hour periods. The Ithaca Times says that’s enough to power 100,000 homes during the time period. The facility would use about 6 acres of the site. The representative also said the project would create 170 construction jobs and between 5-10 part-time jobs to operate it. The project requires state approval to be built. If it’s successful it would be completed in mid-2026.
