- Ithaca Carshare Demands Governor Hochul Sign Bill To Prevent Permanent Closure -

Ithaca Carshare says it will permanently close unless Governor Kathy Hochul immediately signs a bill solving its insurance problems. The nonprofit paused its services on May 19th due to regulatory issues that made it unable to get insurance. The bill has been on the governor’s desk since the state legislature passed it in June. Over the weekend Senator Lea Webb and Assemblyperson Anna Kelles called on the governor to take action.  

- Veterans Sue New York Over Cannabis Licensing -

A judge has ordered the state’s Cannabis Management Office to stop issuing retail licenses. The decision comes after four military veterans filed a lawsuit against state regulators last week. The suit alleges the state’s licensing system illegally prioritizes people with marijuana convictions over disabled veterans and other minority groups. The Albany Times Union reports the ban may last until hearings for the case start on Friday. 

- Town of Ulysses To Purchase Land For First Public Park -

The town of Ulysses is purchasing 30 acres of land to create its first public park. The Ithaca Voice reports the town board will spend over $200,000 for the Krums Corner Road property this month. Ulysses is one of the few towns in Tompkins County that doesn’t have a public park.
