- Steuben County and its sheriff headed to court over insurance coverage -

A legal dispute between Steuben County Sheriff James Allard and the Steuben County legislature is scheduled for a court hearing on December 21. Allard filed a suit challenging the legislature's repeal of a local law. FingerLakes1.com reports the repealed law gave the sheriff liability insurance coverage against lawsuits related to his official duties. In November the legislature repealed a resolution that required the sheriff to buy his own insurance. The December court hearing will address whether the sheriff should be covered by the county’s insurance policy because he is an elected official.

- State recalls Jenny’s Zee-Zee cannabis gummies as a precaution -

A recall has been issued for some edible cannabis gummies. The Albany Times-Union reports that the Office of Cannabis Management has recalled a product called  “Jenny’s Zee-Zee gummies”.  The office says they did not go through the proper safety and quality testing. The product was sold at licensed cannabis dispensaries between September 4 and November 1. Anyone who bought the gummies can return them to the store where they were purchased even if opened. Stores were ordered to immediately stop sales or giveaways of the gummies. The agency says they haven’t received any reports of illnesses from consuming the product. The recall is a precaution.

- Schuyler County appoints interim county administrator to take over the position -

Schuyler County legislature has chosen a new county administrator. Shawn Rosno has been the interim administrator since the departure of Fonda Chronis in September. The Odess File reports that Rosno’s term will last until the end of 2024.
