Bridged Ep. 2: The Disabled and Ithaca’s Housing Crisis [AUDIO]

Bridged, a partnership between The Park Scholar Program at Ithaca College and WRFI, continues its investigation into the housing crisis plaguing Tompkins County and how it affects people with disabilities. This episode dives deeper into the struggles of accessibility for people with physical, developmental and intellectual disabilities. This episode also looks at accessibility from multiple angles such as location of housing to the downtown area, the proximity of public transportation to the housing and how affordable that housing is. We take a look at two local organizations that work to aid people with disabilities, The Finger Lakes Independence Center and the Franziska Racker Centers. We talk with representatives from these organizations to shed light on the various services available to people with disabilities and how these orgs help to aid in the housing process from group homes to independent living for people with disabilities.
