Cornell Student Found Dead In His Dorm 

Cornell student Matthew Friedman was found unresponsive in his residence hall on Wednesday. He was pronounced dead a while later. He was a first year student from Marlboro, New Jersey. The Cornell Daily Sun reports that Friedman planned to become a doctor. His sister is also a Cornell student. Ithaca Police are investigating his death. The cause is not yet known. 

Man Who Abducted An Ithaca Woman Is Charged In Virginia

Michael Davis has been charged by Virginia State Police with the abduction of Tatiana David from Ithaca last week. Syracuse dot com reports Davis remains hospitalized and in custody of police in Prince William County, Virginia. That’s where he is accused of fleeing a police stop, crashing his car and then shooting at Virginia State Police. Tatiana David was a passenger in the car and died at the scene of the crash. The cause of her death is not known. An autopsy was scheduled for last Thursday.

Air Quality Warning In Effect For Friday

An Air Quality Advisory is in effect today for Central New York which includes Tompkins, Cortland, and Schuyler counties. The state Department of Environmental Conservation says that the rise in ozone could affect people with lung diseases, asthma, older adults, people who work outdoors for six hours or more, children and teenagers. Ozone levels may be lower during the morning. The DEC recommends checking air quality levels before any outdoor activities.
