Virginia Officials Confirm Abducted Ithaca Woman’s Cause Of Death

WRFI has confirmed that Tatiana David died of multiple gunshot wounds. The Virginia Medical Examiner’s office says her death was a homicide. Police say their investigation is ongoing. David was abducted in Ithaca on April 5 and died that night in Virginia. Michael Davis is charged with her abduction. He remains in a Virginia hospital in police custody. Police say he fled a traffic stop, crashed his car a while later and then shot at Virginia State Police. Tatiana David was a passenger in the car and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. 

Marshall Sentenced For Killing Of Alan Godfrey In Ithaca

William Marshall was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Friday for killing Alan Godfrey. Both men lived in Ithaca. The Ithaca Voice reports the Tompkins County District Attorney asked for the maximum sentence of 25 years. Marshall pled guilty to first degree manslaughter for the shooting death of Godfrey in 2021. In Friday’s hearing, the judge heard from members of Godfrey’s family including his mother who was on the phone with him when he was shot. Marshall spoke and said he regrets killing Godfrey.

Annual Statewide Burn Ban Is In Effect

The state Department of Environmental Conservation is reminding people that the annual residential burn ban is in effect. The ban prohibits burning loose leaves or leaf piles, grass and most tree limbs. Campfires are allowed under specific guidelines. Certain types of controlled burns are also permitted with DEC approval. The southern Finger Lakes region is currently a high risk area. The burn ban is in effect until May 14.
