-New York Farmers Can Get Emergency Declaration for May Freeze-

Farmers affected by this year’s May freeze can now get federal relief. The USDA is making emergency loans available to farmers in thirty-one counties in New York including in the Finger Lakes. The Albany Times Union reports that grapes, apples and some berries were most severely affected but other crops like peaches and cherries were also hurt. Farmers can apply for low interest loans up to $500,000. Get more information about the program and how to apply.

-Ithaca Common Council Votes Itself a $4,000 Raise for 2024-

Ithaca Common Council voted to give itself a $4,000 per year raise. The Ithaca Voice reports it will bring their annual salaries to $17,191 per year. The Council previously voted to lower the mayor’s salary to $30,000 because of the addition of a city manager position. The salary changes will go into effect next year.
