- Despite lawsuit, New Yorkers can still have a say in congressional redistricting -

New York residents can give their input about congressional redistricting even though the state Court of Appeals is set to hear arguments in a case about the redistricting commission. The public is invited to submit input by emailing submissions@nyirc.gov or by sending mail to 250 Broadway, 22nd Floor, New York, NY 10007 Attention: Submissions, Independent Redistricting Commission. - Advocates want Hochul to block possible Cayuga Lake salt mine sale -

A group of Finger Lakes leaders and a water protection group want Governor Kathy Hochul to intercede in the possible sale of the Cargill salt mine under Cayuga Lake. WRVO Public Radio says Cayuga Lake Environmental Action Now (CLEAN), Assemblyperson Anna Kelles, and other local leaders say Cargill is planning a “secret sale” of the mine. They say Hochul should call for an independent environmental review and more public input. Kelles says Cayuga Lake is the saltiest of all the Finger Lakes which affects public and environmental health and the local economy.

-  Schuyler County holds special prescription drug takeback -

Residents in Schuyler County have a chance to safely dispose of unwanted, expired, and unused prescription drugs at a special event this weekend. The Odessa and Tyrone fire departments will be accepting drop-offs from 10 AM - 2 PM on Saturday. The Odessa File says they'll be accepting any prescription medications, ointments, and sprays. And if you’re trying to stop smoking they’ll take tobacco products except e-cigarettes. This is a special event. Unwanted prescription drugs can be anonymously left in drop boxes any time at the Schuyler County sheriff’s office or police department in Watkins Glen and the Human Services Complex in Montour Falls.
