- New Ithaca police chief selected -

A 23-year veteran of the Schenectady police department has been selected to be the new police chief in Ithaca. Thomas Kelly was selected after interviews with community members and a search committee. His appointment must be approved by the Common Council. They are set to vote on it at a December 6 meeting.

- One person injured, part of downtown Elmira shut down after shooting -

One person was injured in a shooting in downtown Elmira on Monday. Police say the shooting was targeted at one person and not a random act. WENY TV reports that police closed off a one-block area of downtown Elmira for almost an hour while they searched for the shooter. The shooting victim is in stable condition. As of 2 PM on Monday, police had not found the person suspected of the shooting.

- Lansing wins volleyball state championship -

Lansing High School girl’s volleyball team are state champions. They beat Westhill High School from Syracuse to take the championship. The Ithaca Voice reports the team was led to victory by seven seniors. They were undefeated against ten other teams in the championship tournament.
