- Water shut off planned for Watkins Glen this week -

Residents in Watkins Glen should expect the water to be temporarily shut off later this week. WETM-TV reports water will be cut on Thursday, April 11 starting at 4 AM. The shut-off is so work can be done on a high-pressure line. It should only affect the area north of Monroe Street. Water should be flowing again by 8 AM.

- Median house prices in Chemung County jump almost 20% in one month -

It’s not unusual for real estate listings to increase in the Spring. But in Chemung County, Realtor.com reports a listed house price increase of 19.5 percent in one month from February and March. The Elmira Star-Gazette reports the increase is based on prices of single-family homes, condos, and townhouses listed for sale, not final sale prices. It also doesn’t include new construction, only existing homes. The median house price in the county is now $175,000.

- South Hill recreation trail will add 8 more miles -

A recreational trail in Tompkins County will be extended by 8 miles thanks to an agreement between NYSEG and four towns. The Ithaca Times reports the South Hill Recreation Way Trail agreement is between the Towns of Ithaca, Dryden, Caroline, and Danby. One town official says the plan has been in the works for 15 years. The finished trail will reach the Tompkins/Tioga County border along the former Ithaca and Owego railroad property that NYSEG now owns. Each town will now hold a public hearings and vote on the agreement.
