ITHACA, NY -- Ithaca College president Shirley Collado is departing from the college

She will be assuming the position of President and Chief Executive at College Track, which helps students facing systemic barriers pursue bachelor’s degrees.

After the resignation of Thomas Rochon, Collado was named the 9th President of the college in February of 2017.

Newly promoted provost and executive vice president La Jerne Terry Cornish will serve as interim president for the 2021-2022 school year. She will officially start on August 30.

Collado began the implementation of the Ithaca Forever strategic plan. This called for cutting departments as well as 116 Full-Time-Equivalent faculty positions, drawing backlash from students, faculty, and community members.

Collado will serve as senior advisor to Cornish and the Board of Trustees until December 31st. She starts at College Track on January 10.

No info is known about the process to search for a new president. All that has been said is, “The board will also be taking this time to thoughtfully consider and evaluate the best approach to planning for the next Ithaca College president.”
