ITHACA, NY -- Hurricane Elsa is on track towards the northeast, and the National Weather Service is giving a hazardous weather outlook for counties in central New York, including Tompkins and Schuyler counties.

The warning is for today and tonight. It states that an eastward moving storm system will interact with the remnants of Elsa. Showers and thunderstorms could become heavy this afternoon and into tonight. There is also a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms. Flooding is possible, especially in areas which have received heavy rainfall in recent days. The storm may also produce damaging winds.

Weather spotters are encouraged to report significant weather conditions to the National Weather Service.
